We Are Skate n Disciple

A Faith Based Skateboarding Company

Skateboarding is its own culture. A culture of freedom. Freedom to express yourself as an individual. Individual in the sense that when we skate we express ourselves through our natural untainted style. We all stand and ride our boards a little different than our brothers and sisters next to us which is great and highlights us as beautiful individuals regardless of how the world or society see's or perceives us. We should be confident and secure in ourselves how God created each and everyone of us. We should live with intent and be true to ourselves and the ones around us. We express ourselves through our clothing, deck graphics, grip tape color/design, hardware, wheels, trucks, shoes, art, music, etc. What we ride or what we choose to wear is usually intentional. We get to choose how the world sees us through our freedom of expression. Sometimes thats accepted and sometimes its not. But does that matter? Well, it shouldn't, Be You! Plain and simple.

My favorite thing about skateboarding is the freedom. When I ride I go into tunnel vision. It's totally mind clearing and washes away the stresses of life, very therapeutic. You are constantly setting goals. Working hard, falling, paying dues, making adjustments to achieve that goal. When you achieve that goal or get that trick its an amazing and confidence building experience. Everyone else that is there skating with you usually feels the same. Thats where the mutual respect lies. Skateboarding breaks the mold. It builds mutual respect and a sense of comadardy that sees no race, gender, ethnicity, economic status or popularity level. If you skate than thats it! It doesn't matter if your the best or the worst in the group, it only matters if your having fun and supporting each other. We all share the same passion and heart for each other. If everyone skated, I believe this world woud be a better place.

I have been skating for over 35 years and Jesus found me at a skatepark when I was 17. I believe God saw how important skating was for me in my life and how I used it as an escape from the troubles life had for me at that time. At that time in my life it was the only thing that gave me true peace. He pursued me in my passion and in my brokeness. He entered my life through something I loved in order to help heal and help me understand the hard places I was facing, and would face as time went on. And 25+ years of testimony later, He continues to call on me. This time it is in the form of family, friendship, fellowship, community, skateboards, clothing, skateboard lessons for kids, and a new business.

Something I have notice in the skateboard industry is there are a lot of demonic and negative graphics. There's not much to choose from when it comes to spreading the light. I remember picking out boards growing up and having a limited selection to choose from, in a sense picking the lesser of 2 evils. Still to this day my kids and I, when shopping for boards, are constantly coming across lots of inappropriate graphics or logos that they couldn't identify with, so we made our own. And this is the Heart of our company, to provide a creative faith based alternative. Skate gear and Skateboard lessons that are family friendly. To let God have control over image design and also to highlight Christian artists. What better way to express yourself and represent what you believe. We are Skate n Disciple.

About Us

Hi my name is Ryan, my Wifes name is Alisha. We live in Northern California here in Redding, Shasta County. We have 2 amazing kids Kaleigh and Tristan. We also have 1 dog, 1 cat, and 10 chickens hahaha. I was a mechanic by trade with Honda and Acura for 16 years but recently threw in the towel to open up more family time and a lot less stress. I worked at our kids school as a lead custodian and can honestly say I loved my job, even with a 50% decrease in wages. My job has so much more impact and meaning, I truly believe God wants me here. My new career had allowed me to have summers off and to teach a skateboard camp through the City of Redding Summer Camps. This last year was my last year at the school and I am now pursuing skateboard lessons a bit more through after school clubs, Homeschool vendor, and skateboard camps through Redding Recreation. Alisha is a registered Dental Hyginest and has a heart for preventative maintenance and the overall health for people, starting with the mouth. I love her so much and the love she has for our children is amazing. Our family loves doing anything outdoors, hiking, fishing, bike riding, exploring, swimming, martial arts, gold panning, soccer , basketball, oh yeah and of course skateboarding! But regardless of what we do, we love being together!

We decided as a family to start this Faith Based Christian Skateboard business. We are offering mobile skateboard lessons. We currenlty do not have a store front and are waiting to see if our business is in demand before venturing that route. Our ultimate heart and goal would be to create a Safe Spot Skate Spot. Our vision for Safe Spot Skate Spot would be an indoor skatepark where everyone from every walk of life could come and feel safe, skate, and belong. We would love to see a afterschool program, an art room, a music room, a clothing exchange, food donation and re-distribution where needed, create an area to direct drug and alcohol treatment, and to simply contribute to our community and make the area around us a better place. We love serving our community and being apart of Reddings Skate Culture.
